Privacy, in plain language.

This notice explains what happens when you contact HappyCustomers about a customer journey.

Last updated 12 August 2026

The short version: we collect only what we need to reply and assess your enquiry. We do not sell enquiry information or treat an enquiry as permission to send a newsletter.

Who is responsible

HappyCustomers is an early-stage project run by Patrick Buckingham in New Zealand. Patrick is responsible for personal information handled through this website and is the privacy officer. Contact him at privacy@happycustomers.co.nz.

What we collect

Please do not send customer names, health or financial information, or other sensitive, confidential or identifying customer information.

Why we use it

We use this information to respond to and assess your enquiry, arrange any requested conversation or follow-up, operate and secure the website, and meet legal obligations. Providing information is voluntary, but without your contact details we cannot reply.

Who handles it

Access is limited to Patrick, people he authorises where needed to help with the project, and service providers needed to deliver email, website hosting and security. Current providers include Google Workspace and Cloudflare. They may process information outside New Zealand under their service terms. We do not sell personal information or share it for unrelated marketing.

How long we keep it

If an enquiry does not lead to further discussion, we aim to delete or de-identify it within 12 months after the last contact. If discussions continue, we keep relevant records only while reasonably needed for that purpose or required by law. Service providers may retain basic security logs under their documented schedules.

Your choices and rights

You can ask for access to or correction of your personal information by emailing privacy@happycustomers.co.nz. You may also ask us to delete it; we will do so unless we have a lawful reason to retain it. If we cannot resolve a concern, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Cookies, analytics and marketing

This launch website does not intentionally use advertising pixels or optional marketing analytics. A hosting service may use essential technical data to deliver and protect the website. If optional analytics or advertising technology is added, this notice will be updated and an appropriate choice provided before it is enabled. An enquiry lets us reply about that enquiry; it does not subscribe you to ongoing marketing.
